Covered March’s crop mob up in Pittsboro at Eatable Earthscapes. Much more in-depth articles about the crop mob are on Bountiful Backyards and treehugger.com, but the basic run down is this: a group of folks get together on small local farm and make a large effort to complete projects – my best analogy is that it is similar to what I’ve heard about an Amish Barn Raising.
In any case, it is quite an amazing event. It is as much (or more) about sharing knowledge and building community as it is about hard work. And there is a lot of hard work. People get together to build, dig, sing, eat, talk, and share. I found them to be a wonderful group of people and I hope I can continue with a long-term project about them and their efforts.
